   OBJECTIVES AND REQUIREMENTS

1. Diploma in Theology program

1. The candidate must have completed 10th standard. 

2. The candidate will have to attend a personal interview with the Academic Committee.  

 

2. Bachelor of Theology Program

Bachelor of Theology is designed to meet the academic need of the dedicated students. It serves as a firm basis to equip the students to be well qualified for further studies.

Objectives

The Bachelor of Theology course is intended to meet the academic need of the dedicated Christian candidates-

1.      To inculcate firm foundation in biblical teachings.

2.      To inculcate positive attitude towards the practical issues of the society with a true Christian perspective.

3.      To awaken and edify the hidden skills in diversified fields of study.

4.      To expose students to various trends of Christian mission and evangelism and

5.      To teach students to defend their Christian commitment and take active part in mobilizing the nationals for Christian ministry.

 Requirements

1.      The candidate must have completed 12 standard or 10th standard plus two years of Christian training certificate (from ATA) with a good command in English.

2.      The candidate should be a member of the church and produce a recommendation letter from the pastor.

3.      The candidate will have to pass an entrance examination: (1) English Grammar, (2) General (3) Knowledge and Bible. Each one of these will be one-hour duration and the questions will be objective type questions.

4.      The candidate will have to attend a personal interview with the Academic Committee.

 

3. Master Divinity (M.Div) Program

Master of Divinity is a Post-Graduate degree offered to develop Christian leadership for the different levels of the Church and to fulfill the great commission within the context of his/her own culture.

Objectives

1.      To inculcate biblical spirituality that will emerge in every aspect of their lives and ministry.

2.      To lay sound biblical foundation for faith, practice and ministry.

3.      To develop research skills that promotes a deeper understanding of the biblical truth of the church, and its mission within the National Context of the students.

4.      To enhance leadership abilities for the various ministries in the Church.

5.      To awaken the need for participation in missions with a focus on the unreached.

6.      To inculcate the wholistic view of mission to integrate different methods in serving the whole human being and society. 

 Requirements

1.      University graduates, above 23 years of age, actively involved in some form of Christian ministry.

2.      The candidate will have to pass an entrance examination: (1) Advance English, (2) the Bible and (3) General Knowledge. Each one of these will be one-hour duration and the questions will be short note type answers (to be answered in about 5 sentences each).

3.      The candidate will have to attend a personal interview with the Academic Committee.

4.      The candidate will have to be recommended/ sponsored by a church and/or a Para Church organization.

 

4. Master of Theology (M.Th) Program

Master of Theology is an advanced study for 2 years after M. Div. specializing in one specific field of study such as Old Testament, New Testament, Missiology. It needs academic knowledge and skills of research. The main purpose of M.Th program is to develop faculty members to teach in seminaries and training institutions. It helps the graduates to take up their doctoral degree specializing in their field of study and research.

 

4.1 M. Th. in Missiology

Missiology is an important field of study which includes many areas such as history and development of the churches, theology of mission, practice of mission, culture and anthropology, social development of communities etc.

Objectives

1.      For students to be prepared with knowledge of the foundational subjects needed to educate cross-cultural missionaries for field service.

2.      For students to grasp the vision for harvesting among the unreached and the burden of developing that vision among potential missionary trainees.

3.      For students to have a plan to use their knowledge and research to be strategically invested in preparing harvesters to reach the unreached.

4.      To train missiologists to teach in seminaries and institutes.

Requirements

1.      The candidates should have passed BD (SSC) or M.Div. (ATA) in second class.

2.      They should have done at least four subjects related to Missiology/Church History in their Master degree program.

3.      Knowledge of preliminary Greek and Hebrew can be regarded as a credit.

4.      Minimum experience of two years of ministry after their M.Div in a church or Mission.

5.      Writing entrance exam and appearing for interview.

 

 4.2 M. Th. in New Testament

New Testament is an important field of study which includes many areas such as reading and translating the Greek texts of New Testament, exegeting the passages, studying the history and background of New Testament, critical approaches and methodology of interpretation, formulating theology, etc.

Objectives

1.      To educate students I New Testament studies enabling them to read more Greek texts and interpret them.

2.      To equip the students to a detailed knowledge of the history, background and theology of New Testament.

3.      To develop and their skill to use critical methods, identify issues and draw solutions.

4.      To train the students to take the message of the New Testament and apply in their ministry.

5.      To prepare students to teach in seminaries and institutes.

Requirements

1.      The candidate should have passed BD (SSC) or M.Div. (ATA) in second class.

2.      They should have done minimum of two Greek exegetical papers in addition to Greek grammar course in New Testament securing second class in each paper in M.Div./BD and keep in touch with the Greek language.

3.      Writing entrance exam and appearing for interview.

Minimum experience of one year in ministry after the M.Div./BD.
